summering

This summer we've been swimming, swimming, swimming. All 3 girls are little swimmers now, which has brought me to a new level of alertness at the water. Little Pumpkin tends to overestimate her abilities.

Other than swimming, we've been spending lots of lazy days at home. The big girls are loving E. Nesbit's Railway Children, which we are currently reading. Our yard is getting some good play early and late in the day, when the heat isn't unbearable. We've been baking all sorts of yummy sweets- rasberry cake is my favorite. The mattresses from our beds have found their way to the living room for some great forts. Little House on the Prairie is on the TV most afternoons.

Happy 4th of July!
Caterpillars gobbling our fennel. They'll become black swallowtail butterflies.

Lemonade stand from last weekend- the girls made $34 with 2 gallons of fresh-squeezed lemonade. They're asking to do it again this weekend.
