- burlap trees inspired by these
- knitting gifts for Daddy- a scarf, hat, and mittens
- lots of sewing in secret (both me and the girls)- they've sewn gifts for eachother and a few other family members too
- big fun with pinecones, white paint and glitter to make tree ornaments
- cutting paper snowflakes
- window decorating with window paint markers
- lots and lots of cookie baking- pressed shortbread cookies have been the girls favorites to make and decorate; peanut butter kiss cookies have been their favorite to eat!
- reading Christmas books (see this post for a list of our favorites)- A new solsticey favorite this year is Lucia and the Light
- celebrating our annual Spiral Garden festival with our homeschool co-op
- singing Christmas carols while Daddy plays guitar
- rolling beeswax candles
- recalling solstices and Christmases past - as the girls are getting older, they are remembering and cherishing our family traditions.
Now for tomorrow we have a few gifts left to wrap. Rob and I have a big Christmas surprise for the girls too. He's taking them bowling tomorrow (another rainy day here) while I secretly pack suitcases for our snowy New England vacation. Santa is leaving plane tickets and snow boots under our tree. After a quick breakfast, we'll be off to the airport. This will be the girls' first experience of snow. Oh, how enchanting snow is for Florida children!
Oh, and other big news... our baby is a girl. We are all thrilled!
